I sailed through the Galapagos last July, which is a great time of year to go. Why? Babies!
Fernandina Island, known for its abundance of marine iguanas, in July is also home to adorable sea lion pups, a mere one-month old. We

watched them play with each other, sleep, snore and interact with their mommas. Their cuteness caused us to overstay our time on the island, but you couldn’t tear us away from their adorable little faces and their antics.
We went right from Fernandina Island to whale watching, where we saw a mother and baby humpback whale swimming together a distance away.

On Santiago Island, we met baby fur seals sunning themselves on the rocks and saw young penguins, distinguishable from adults by their whiter chest feathers.
The “boobie” birds (blue footed, red footed and Nazca) have babies in all stages of growth at this time of year. On North Seymour Island we watched blue-footed boobies tend to their young in their nests on the

ground. On Genovesa, we saw red-footed boobies, Nazca boobies and frigate birds with young in various stages, sitting on eggs, feeding fledglings in nests or juveniles waddling around, identifiable by

their fuzzy coats.
And on Mosquera Island, we kicked off our Galapagos adventure as we watched older sea lion pups suckle and cuddle with their moms.

Enjoy these baby pictures!
